Who can tell? Tony's really deep, so it's hard to say whether it's genuine hatred or a crush in disguise. Can you tell with anyone? Because of free will, the human being is unpredictable. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

In my opininion, he's probably amazed how she got so famous too easily, she's not a chef and no experience in televison. She also has a bubbly personality which he doesn't have and wonder how he can get some of that happy, careless feeling. Tony is evolving, I think he's less bitter now and more happy because of his experiences in meeting people in the other country, making him more humble. But still can't get rid of the fact RR is so famous than him. But I'd rather watch Tony, 'can't stand RR anymore. I have nothing againts her but that's just a feeling.

I am imagining Tony's wife as a supermodel type woman but a very smart & sophisticated one that Tony will respect. As mush as he's good looking I wonder how good is his cooking? What's the name of his restaurants? Maybe someday i can dine there when i visit.

Tony's wife Ottavia Busia is not a supermodel - she was a manager at an Asian-fusion restaurant before marrying Tony - but she is certainly attractive enough:

She IS very smart, funny, feisty and down-to-earth.

Tony does not own nor does he head a brigade in ANY kitchen any more. He was the executive chef at Les Halles until about 2001 or so, when his TV career made it impossible for him to devote the time and attention needed to be an exec chef at a restaurant. He is still described as "chef at large" for Les Halles, but that is purely "honorary". He does NOT cook there at all (except for one ep of NR). Basically, his ex-boss Philippe lets him use LH for book signings, book release parties, shots for NR, etc., and they heavily promote his books on their website. Tony, in turn, occasionally does an event - for instance, he cooked the preview of Wild Game Week in November 2005. It's a reciprocally warm and beneficial relationship for Tony and LH. LH benefits from the PR, and Tony has a "home base" to use. You can certainly visit LH (Park Avenue) which was Tony's kitchen. His cooking is very fine, very deft. His cassoulet still gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling - and I'm not a big cassoulet fan. (Yes, I had his food most recentkly during the shooting of the LH NR ep, and previously at other gigs where he also did cooking demonstrations.)

Sure, just like you have a crush on people whom you can't seem to get away from and who are REALLY REALLY irritating.

It's that kind of a crush.

wow! so you know them personally? well, if not thanks for the info. There's a lot of fans that might not know this or i'm the only one (boo hooohoo) I don't research on Tony anymore. No time to do that. But I'm one of those people who got intrigued by him and his life other than being a host.
So Tony's wife, where is she from? Got to see her picture....i'll try that site.

No, I do not know either Tony or Ottavia personally. I have seen Ottavia at several book signings over the past 2 years, and spoke with her at length at the B&N even t with Michael Ruhlman in December 2007. A fellow fan had asked me to deliver something to Tony for his baby daughter (and wanted a pic ture of him opening it), so I waited till the end of the event to do so in order not to hold up the line. Having been introduced to Ottavia by Beth Aretsky earlier (and having explained my predicament to Ottavia), she spotted me sitting a few rows back as Tony was signing books, and very graciously invited me to sit up front with her, Beth and Tony's agent and chat, which I did, for about an hour and half. So, to reiterate, all I can say is I found her to be very, very funny, feisty, down-to-earth and a real trip - a perfect foil for her equally colorful husband (!)

Ottavia is from a small town, La Garda (about 2,000) outside of Brescia, which is near Milan. I think I'm almost as big an Ottavia fan as I am a Tony fan - she is just very, very funny, and apparently enjoys teasing Ruhlman wickedly (!) As for Tony, it's just been many years of book signings and other public appearances, so he does occasionally good-naturedly heckle me when I'm on the book signing line (!)
